I've just signed up for a fitness challenge through my work. I don't want to go overboard tho cos i'm already slim and have a BMI of approx 20.
But i'd like to tone up my stomach and legs and increase my stamina. can you recomment ways I can do this without losing weight?
Also, how often and for how long should I do this for? The challenge lasts 8 weeks but I'm hoping that this has given me the kick up the bum I need to make it a long term goal for myself.What methods can I use to improve my fitness?in general, its just changing your paradigm. so just do little things which are not too difficult to turn into a permanent habit.
for example, ive made it a habit to keep my stomach muscles contracted all the time when im standing and walking. this results in a somewhat perpetual state of "low-intensity-stomach-muscle-workout". after a while it becomes subconscious which makes it even easier.
in general, i start feeling lethargic when i dont pay attention to my diet, sleeping paterns and water consumption. just make sure you do have an at least somewhat half-arsed balanced diet at the minimum to keep your main vitamins and minerals at an acceptable level. they just help your body release even more energy from the food you do consume.
personally, when i sleep too much, i feel terrible. and when i sleep too little, i feel just as bad. so keep it at a consistent level. this doesnt mean that you cant stay up on a saturday night. sure, do so, as long as it doesnt happen many nights in a row to ruin your sleeping patterns completely and turn you into an insomniac.
also, trust the magic of water. it's literally the BEST thing to consume to ensure you feel and look great. you get this "healthy glow" because your body is able to flush out more toxins when you consume more water.
try to turn these habits into a permanent thing and you'll be fine. it's the little things which make you more energetic and fun to be around, trust me.What methods can I use to improve my fitness?

To not loose weight , just have a good breakfast or a lunch or dinner or whatever , that really fills you up . Then maybe have a dessert . After 30 - 40 mins you can go swimming . This will tone up your stomach and you wont loose much weight ! it really works , try it !

wow u have a bmi 20? that means uou're healthy enough now. The way i do to get my stomach looking smaller to do sit-up and go to gym. i do it 45min a day and it kinda works. Some people go to swim and play ball games, but for me they're quite time-consuming, they work well too though. I just bought one yesterday and it tones your stomach and your thighs and the more you do it obviously the greater your stamina will be and its fun.What methods can I use to improve my fitness?
If you don't want to lose weight and you're exercising a lot, just make sure you eat heartily but healthily (lots of fresh fruit and veg and plenty of lean meat and fish, stay off the high fat, high sugar and processed junk food).
If you do some weight training and cardio exercise, on that diet you'll probably gain muscle and burn fat but stay the same weight on the scales.
Eventually you'll look more toned (maybe bigger and almost sertainly more defined around the shoulders, arms and legs and a tighter mid-section), you'll be much fitter and you may gain some weight according to the scales but your bodyfat percentage will have decreased.
Remember BMI is poor measure for athletes who carry a lot of muscle weight. Most bodybuilders would be classified as obese by the BMI calculation even though they carry hardly any bodyfat by the standards of a non-athlete.
