When I finish school in two years I'm hoping (desperately) to apply for a pilot position in the Royal Australian Air Force. I was just wondering what level of fitness is needed to be accepted and finish training
I currently go to the gym every now and then and run on a pretty regular basis. i can go 2.4km in about 11 minutes (pretty puffed at the end though), can do about 15 push-ups, 3 chin-ups and a good 40 unheld sit-ups. hopefully that gives you an idea of where i am at in terms of fitness.
What should i be able to do, sorry if this is a confusing questionLevel of Fitness Required to become a RAAF Fast Jet Pilot? To start training, you're looking at a basic:
- 15 Pushups
- 45 Situps
- Beep test score of 6.5
RAAF other ranks have to do:
- 2.4km run in under 12 minutes
- 40 situps
- Flexed arm hang of 30 seconds
I've never heard of aircrew having higher fitness requirements, though it's best to play it safe. Start your application during your last year of school - it takes a long time to get it done, and it'd be a perfect opportunity to get more details about the aircrew positions.
Good scores to aim for are:
- 2.4km run in under 10 minutes
- 100 situps (situps are usually conducted supported)
