Anyone know what you can do with an associates degree in Fitness and health degree?

I'm looking in to the field because I have a great passion for fitness and believe I would enjoy being apart of a healthy environment teaching people how to get or stay healthy. I want to own my own Fitness center one day. I'm looking for only serious answers to my question and maybe someone who is already in the field. Do you have a variety of options to explore in this field of work or does it get pretty routine? The kinds of jobs you would qualify for with that are mostly assistant jobs. If you want to do something major like own a fitness center, youre looking at a least a Master's degree.

Do you think younger people care about fitness more then older people? I'm 19 years old, and I love to work-out. I've seen other dudes around my age with abs and nice biceps, and they seem to really take care of themselves. I hardly ever see older people work-out.

    What are the 5 components of Physical Fitness?

    I need to know what they are and how or why they are a component of Physical Fitness.What are the 5 components of Physical Fitness?The first is Cardio-Respiratory Endurance.

    This for me is one of the main components of physical fitness as simply put, this is your heart and lungs. Cardio-Respiratory Endurance can be defined as your ability to perform strenuous tasks using large muscle groups over a period of time.



    In other words power walking, jogging, running, push bike etc. To get maximum benefit the time should be over 20 minutes. This works for every one as you work within ranges of your maximum heart rate.



    Next is Body Composition.

    When looking at the 5 components of physical fitness this component gets taken out of context, especially when talking about dieting. This can be defined as the amount of fat in the body relative to the fat free mass. In other words everything other than fat (muscle, water and bone) compared to the amount of fat.



    So, if you use this as one of the main components of physical fitness you will try to lower your fat percentage and increase your muscle mass (sleek and toned).



    Flexibility as one of the 5 components of physical fitness

    When we look at flexibility as one of the main components of physical fitness we are looking to increase the range of motion. Flexibility can be defined as the functional capacity of the joints to move through a full range of movement.



    This is not like stretching as in a warm up or cool down but to increase the range of movement for a given joint. Think of doing the splits (brings tears to my eyes).



    Muscular Strength

    If muscular strength is used as one of the main components of physical fitness you are usually looking to build larger muscles. This can be defined as a maximal one time effort (force) that can be exerted against a resistance. Think of weight lifting.



    Muscular Endurance

    The last of the 5 components of physical fitness is muscular endurance. This can be defined as the ability of the muscles to apply a sub-maximal effort (force) repeatedly for a certain period of time. Think of lifting light weights repeatedly or sit ups.

    I'm a fitness freak and would love to work in a gym - eventually I want to be a trainer but I've got to start somewhere, and I think working for FF would be a better advantage than what I do now (which is, rather ironically, managing a Pizza Hut).     They give you plenty of training for those.

    To prepare for the in academy stuff for most females you need to up your upper body strength.

    This includes pull ups and push ups.



    There is a 6' wall int eh academy with no toe holds. You basically have to jump up, grasp the top and pull yourself over.

    That is about the hardest thing.

    How do I become muscular without joining Fitness First?

    I am very, very skinny compared with my friends. It gets embarrassing each time we take a shower after football training. A lot of them stand 6' or taller, me being a short 5'10, plus they are all muscular people. I want to gain muscle, but Fitness First is a bit too expensive I don't have any income anyway. Is it possible to work out at home? If so, how?



    Ta muchly!!How do I become muscular without joining Fitness First?Run for a while till you sweat. Then you can slow down and you will maintain that sweat. Set goals, on like push ups. sit up or crunches. Pull ups, jump roping is a good one too. if you have a medisine ball there are really good work outs for those. Before you do all this STRETCH, stretching helps yours muscles and takes away some soreness. then stretch after your done working out. You will need to start eating more protien if you want to get bigger. You need to get some fat first to make some muscle. If not your muslce will just keep getting harder, not nessisarly bigger. good luck bro.

    Well, the best book on nutrition and fitness I've ever read is "burn the fat, feed the muscle"...you can find it if you search for it or for tom venuto, the book's author. It's an e-book and it will cost you (it's pretty cheap though).

    Of course, you can find it for free in file sharing programs... (though you didn't hear this from me ;-)...

    If you really want to skip all the trouble of searching for stuff on the net, read that book. I'll warn you, it's a long book, it has close to 300 pages if I remember correctly, but it starts out very simple so EVERYONE (even a person who doesn't know what the heck a carb is) can understand it, but goes very in-depth into the mechanisms of diet and weight-loss. So yes, the book is long, but if you go download it right now, it'll save you from the troubles of having to search through the net (which will probably get you VERY MISINFORMED anyway on your quest to real honest info) and will give you the tools you need to reach your fitness goals

    My two-cents worth . . . don't be the least bit intimidated about joining a regular gym! Every gym has tons of people of all different shapes, sizes, and levels of fitness.     My wife went to curves and enjoyed it for the social "woman power" type thing. However after 3 months she lost about 3 pounds - If you actually want a better body, curves program won't give you the results you seek. The "30 minute" workout is not challenging enough. Granted, it's better than not working out at all. My wife has now lost 40 lbs in the past year by cutting crap out of her diet and doing 30-40 minutes of cardio 3 times per week. And she will see even better results now that she's begun weight training as well. It's the fat person's dream that you can do this non-challenging workout and continue to eat sugar, pasta and fried foods and still see results. I'm sorry but this is not the case. I think Curves is good if you're an older woman who has never really worked out. But if it is visible results that you seek, you will be disappointed.

    How can I increase my overall fitness/endurance?

    I am hoping to do my next ju-jitsu grading in June, but at the minute I don't think I am physically fit enough to go through 5 hours of non-stop testing. I am not looking so much to build up core strength, but general endurance and the ability to keep going for longer.     I'd say running. The best way to up your stamina and endurance is running long periods of time. You should run at a pretty steady pace and go as long as you can and keep doing this every other day or every two days.     go jogging... it really helps... it helped me pass my tae kwon do grading.. now i got my black belt! make sure u go jogging everyday... and dont ever decrease ur jogging time.... its either u maintain or increases.... besides that, do some exercise that will give u some muscles.... that helps to.... but in this case, dont strain urself... that can cause problems.. if u feel tired then rest.... remember that u r not wonder woman.... if u want some jogging tips, u can easily search online... use a good search engine for good results... then follow it...

You must understand that Singapore is a very tiny country and there are only so many people living in it. The dominant players for fitness are True Fitness (Used to be known as Planet Fitness), California Fitness and Fitness First. For Spas, there are too many to name - from the big players like FIL and other overseas providers to the smaller private owned ones.



    In times of recesion, many of these smaller firms close down, since it is a 'luxury' service and not a staple. Furthermore, the cost of labor and rental is too high. My suggestion would be that you try exploring developing cities like Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) where the expat market is overwhelming and the fitness/spa industry has just opened up. No major players dominating at this point will be able to have that first mover advantage.



    Overheads are low so you can make a nifty profit, depending on your operational strategy of low cost + high volume or high cost + high variety

    This is the second month I've bought a copy of Oxygen magazine (women's fitness). It's great with lots of fit women of all ages, healthy eating tips, and exercise routines. I showed it to my husband and he said those are pictures guys would like and was that how I wanted to look since I'm working out now (he sounded happy about it). LOL.

    Long Answer: I know I am overweight and I have been struggling with it for a long time. I used to be obsessed with the numbers on the scale, but I have come to realize that that is not what is important. What is important is for me to be healthy and happy. I am going to eat healthy and exercise regularly to promote a healthy lifestyle that will serve my body best in the long run.     After I had my baby I had xtra 30 lbs left I just though it would go away by itself but after 5 months it didn't I actually gained 5lbs but anyways I'm just gunna copy n paste my answer from another ? I answered for someone else trying to loose weight....I just started my new years resolution and after reading about everything there is about looking weight this is what I've come up with.... Eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day. I've been trying to do the 5 small meals a day thing to boost your motabolism. Drink water! I completly quit drinking anything but water. I bought a smart water and I've just kept the bottle cause its like 33 oz and I drink at least 2 of those a day. If you don't like plain water at lemon juice or any type of citrus juice. And u have to exercise if you can go to a gym then that would be awesome. Unfortunatly I can't so I went to walmart bought a 9$ workout dvd its julian micheals 30 shred and its awesome! That's about the best advice I can give good luck and congrats!!!!

    Twice a years soldiers in the Army have to take a test to evaluate their physical fitness. Let's say you need to test their mental fitness too. How would you do that?If you were tasked with making an Army Mental Fitness Test equivelent to the APFT, what would you do?I assume that this is a hypothetical test. There are many psychological tests out there. Most are questionnaires where the person taking it gives subjective input. A well written test can ask questions in a few different ways over again to get a better idea what is in someones head.



    Also if the person giving the test observes the person taking it, it helps. How is this person dressed? Are they appropriately groomed. Do they seem to move around/pace. Do they look at their watch? Do they display other nervous habits? Do they volunteer information? Do they avoid eye contact? There are a lot of ways to observe someone. You can see if the behavior matches the answers to the questions.



    Some military jobs have a psychological exam as part of the requirement.



    If I were to give such an exam some of the things I would be interested in:



    1. Any past history of psychological treatment or hospitalization

    2. Any major medical conditions. Some medical conditions can have symptoms that can affect mental health.

    3. Any history of substance abuse (alcohol or drugs)

    4. Any history of criminal behavior especially violence

    5. Any thoughts of suicide or previous attempts of suicide

    6. Any thoughts of homicide

    7. Has this person witnessed or experienced a situation that was traumatic in nature and caused the person to have nightmares, flashbacks, grief, fear (PTSD)

    8. What type of work does this person do and what level of responsibility dos he/she have

    9. How does this person feel about the position they are in? (do they understand why they are being evaluated and do they agree to the test or is this being forced?) (people who are willing to give answers may be more truthful)

    10. How do you think this persons mood is? Are they friendly and seem happy? Do they seem angry or hostile? Are they talkitive or more reserved?

    I am 16 and When I play football and go for a jog I can run for long periods of time. But when I do the bleep test ionly get a 9. Even my PE teacher told me that my bleep test score doesn't match my real life fitness. How is this. How do I get the bleep test score to my full potential.Why does my bleep test score not match my real life fitness?It would point to the fact that you have a slow recovery time.
    SIMPLIFICATION
    Jogging and even running (not sprinting) are 'slow' energy consumers, your muscles have plenty of time to recover as they are not being pushed to the limits. bleep tests are sprints, they get progressively faster and push the muscles harder which takes longer to recover from. There could also point to a lung capacity/efficiency i.e. you are not able to absorb enough oxygen to feed the muscles and dissipate the C02 and acid build up due to exercise.Why does my bleep test score not match my real life fitness?Because your body goes into anaerobic respiration at a low speed. At a certain speed yu can go for ages, but eventually at a speed around 8.5 i imagine you get out of breath because your lungs can't get enough oxygen to respire, lactic acid builds up and gives cramp, and oxygen debt (panting) because body is trying to get rid of the lactic acid.     When I finish school in two years I'm hoping (desperately) to apply for a pilot position in the Royal Australian Air Force. I was just wondering what level of fitness is needed to be accepted and finish training



    I currently go to the gym every now and then and run on a pretty regular basis. i can go 2.4km in about 11 minutes (pretty puffed at the end though), can do about 15 push-ups, 3 chin-ups and a good 40 unheld sit-ups. hopefully that gives you an idea of where i am at in terms of fitness.



    What should i be able to do, sorry if this is a confusing questionLevel of Fitness Required to become a RAAF Fast Jet Pilot?To start training, you're looking at a basic:

    - 15 Pushups

    - 45 Situps

    - Beep test score of 6.5



    RAAF other ranks have to do:

    I've never heard of aircrew having higher fitness requirements, though it's best to play it safe. Start your application during your last year of school - it takes a long time to get it done, and it'd be a perfect opportunity to get more details about the aircrew positions.

You also have to locate in a populated area that does not have a good spa-- which may be difficult considering that neighborhood spas and salons that offer simple massages (back/shoulder, foot spa) are dime a dozen. If your fixed costs are high and you have to borrow from a bank to augment capital, you have interest to pay and amortization of principal.



    Your revenue may not be high enough, because of competition, not just from other nearby spas/salons, but popular ones that are either mall-based or have existed for quite a while and have their regulars. As for expenses other than interest, rent can be high, and utilities as well (electricity, water, laundry). For instance you can go to any spa in the Philippines and you are only charged a small amount of money for the services you get. If you were to get those same services in another country such as America you would be charged a much higher price. A massage in the Philippines can run a customer 500-1,000 pesos for an hour. That same massage in the U.S. could run a customer over $100. That is why spa and fitness has been lucrative in the U.S. in the past but now due the recession it has really been hurting the entire fitness industry. I would not get into that industry in the Philippines for these reasons alone but there are other reasons that I would never start a business in the Philippines. It is not worth it.

    I've basically heard nothing about the others, and that is almost always a bad sign. It's not worth $50 to be a tester, but fitness evolved has been touring with the kinect hardware so it's the least risky of the bunch.

I recently heard of Lifesmart dumbbells (but they only go to 55 lbs, so you may eventually out grow them. A yoga mat is also recommended.

    The service with the lowest physical requirements are the Air Force and the Coast guard. One you are past basic training you have to get on a bike and cycle once a year. Thats it.     I think you might be getting a little mixed up with what you want exactly. You say that you want to lose "weight" but that means you might want to get rid of some muscle too. You then say that you'd like to "shape" (I'd call it tone) your body a little which implies you want to build some muscle. I'm not trying to pick at your question - I just want to clarify the point for you.



    To answer it in the best way, I am going to look at it as if you want to get rid of fat AND build muscle at the same time. If you're looking to "trim" and "tone" your body, and espectially because you suggest you are not that overweight, I would suggest you start performing more intensive aerobic exercises such as jogging. I wouldn't think you need to change the whole way you eat or go on a diet because if you're wanting to build muscles - it's better to do it all with exercise.



    Exercises like jogging won't exactly "build" your muscles on your stomach but they will help reduce the extra fat around there. Depending on how fit you are, you should go on daily or bi-daily jogs of around a mile. To build muscles, you should concentrate on anaerobic exercises such as sit-ups to help build muscles.



    These muscle-building exercises will give your muscles the toning and training they need to grow and become more prominent. To start to see a real difference with sit-ups, you should be looking to do no more than 100 every day (more than that will often hurt your muscles).



    If you stick to doing those two forms of exercise - jogging and sit-ups, you should see real improvements in a week or two. Remember, you should do them as often as you can (I.E every single day).

    Between meals snack twice a day things like granola bars, jello, carrots, yogurt. This means you eat 5 times a day. Never miss a meal. It won't be fast, but you'll not bounce back.

    Hi there, I am starting a fairly moderate fitness regime after giving up smoking with the start of the ban.



    I was always good aerobically, even as a smoker, but my main focus has to be upon improving upper body strength.     Just curious, but with his French ancestry I was wondering if there was any religious beliefs or affiliations. In one interview he stated that fitness was his religion.
