i have really good strokes but i get really really tired. i want to improve my fitness and my footwork on my backhand side.... i cant chase balls when its on the backhand but i can hit almost every ball on the forehand. how do i improve? How can i improve my fitness and footwork in tennis? You are most likely not slow on your feet (and I do say that with hesitation because I could be wrong)...but the fact that you say you have good footwork on the forehand side means you can fix this problem very easily.
First, you need to start taking slightly smaller steps on the backhand side. This will condition you to begin getting into the perfect position on the backhand side. Smaller steps will help you get into position quickly.
Next, I think you should be prepared earlier. You may think that there is a big footwork issue, but it may also have to do with a slower than normal reaction time on your backhand side.
Next time you are on the court, you should definitely think about how to react quicker to your opponents shot. If you get real good, you can usually identify where the ball is going when your opponent starts the foreword swing...but we will save that lesson for a different time!
Hopefully that helps.

When you side step to the balls, use the entire width of your legs to get as much distance as you can with your legs.
Before your shot be bounching on your tippy toes and constantly moving, when the ball bounces split step, side step to the ball using the complete width of your legs and setup. How can i improve my fitness and footwork in tennis?hello there,
Its funny, I had the same problem in the past.
i was working very hard to improve my technique but i noticed that no matter how good my technique gets - i still lose points because i am getting too tired.
I think that if you want to improve your game you have to improve your stamina.
i found on the web a really nice tool called - "the triple matrix" - this is a workout plan that was built specifically to improve tennis players stamina. I tried it and i think you should check it out.
have fun and good luck!!!

I'm 12 and I jog around the neighborhood for 25 minutes nonstop.
For you I would start with 10 minutes take a 2 minute break then start up again. Do that for 20 minutes days Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday,Friday, and Saturday. Also find some stairs at a college and go up and down running, I do 100 you can start with 20 then get a drink water do that three and then do it again you should do 60 in all. You go up then down that's one stair. Bring something for listening music with or you may get bored. Weightlifting,Sprints,push-ups,sit-ups,s鈥?That's what I do I'm able to beat 15 year-olds and hit hard while in shape. This and with me going out 5 to6 hours a day to play tennis has helped good luck.
