What do you need to become a fitness trainer ?

im planning on going to santa monica college and getting a degree in kinesiology but is that enough or should i go to a vocational school and get a certificate in fitness training too..to have higher possibilities of being hired...and how long would it take to become one and is 5'2 too short to be a fitness trainer??What do you need to become a fitness trainer ?Most gyms require a certification for employment as a trainer. ACE and NASM are good certs. A degree in kinesiology will make getting your cert a cakewalk and increase your initial credibility, although in the end your clients' success will guarantee your success. A degree will make you immediately hireable though, no worries there. You are not too short to train, it's the quality of your training and attitude that matter. What do you need to become a fitness trainer ?I've never seen a sign saying you have to be this tall to be a competent fitness leader. Many personal training certifications are actually quite Mickey Mouse and can be done over a couple weekends (which is scary considering how many of these "trainers" are symbols of fitness excellence to the average person). A degree in kinesiology carries alot more weight than most certs. Stay in school. Get a cert as well but remember your education when it comes to assessing clients properly. What do you need to become a fitness trainer ?I am good friends with few trainers, and yea if thats what you wanna do then a degree would be great.

If you can't get a degree or even if you do....you'll wann be in great shape.

I would say that is more important than a degree. Get into running races and make yourself known as an athlete and you should be able to find a job.

Good luck!

Oh yea and height doesn't matter.
