Is there a maximum level of fitness that is attainable?

Is there a maximum level of fitness that is achievable or is it always possible to improve? Is there a maximum level of fitness that is attainable?Olympic decathalon winners are probably at the maximum fitness level that is achievable when they win. However, the maximum level is increasing with time. Other candidates for having achieved the maximum fitness level might include male ballet dancers, male figure skaters, football players, boxers, Navy SeALs and other special forces, and smoke jumpers.

I'm excluding specialized athletes because they only develop one aspect of their athleticism. For example, sprinters develop their anaerobic capacity and distance runners develop their aerobic capacity, but they don't develop both or their strength, etc. The ones I named above develop many aspects of their athleticism. Is there a maximum level of fitness that is attainable?there's a guy out there running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days. no lie.
