I have just been offered a job subject to references and confirmation of fitness to work. Will the 'fitness to work' part mean that I will have to take a medical examination or is it something else?In employment what does confirmation of 'fitness to work' by Occupational Health dept mean? You will be required to have a medical with their nominated occupational health doctor. This can happen for more than one reason, when filling in your application form you may have mentioned some past (or present) medical condition and they need reassurance that it will not affect your ability to do the job.
The other main reason is that there may be some demanding physical aspect or perhaps something highly stressful.
It would also be quite common for them to require an examination when someone is re-entering the work world after a period of convalescence etc.
It is nothing to worry about and is just a normal comprehensive physical check. In employment what does confirmation of 'fitness to work' by Occupational Health dept mean?a medical usually involving a questionnaire plus blood pressure, weight, height, eyesight, perhaps also ecg, diabetes, and drug/alcohol testIn employment what does confirmation of 'fitness to work' by Occupational Health dept mean?2 legs, 2 arms, 1 head, your fit to work
