What is the best way to qualify as a fitness instructor?

I'm in the armed forces and would like to study to become a fitness instructor so i can understand better my own goals in the gym and also help people down the gym who need some help with their workout and goals, because alot of the time RAF PTI's are not very helpful and offend hard to approch.

There are a lot of different awards, degrees and btec's etc out there but which ones are worth doing and basicly say "i'm qualified and know what i'm talking about?"What is the best way to qualify as a fitness instructor?industry courses are held up and down the country all the time.. you can complete them distance learning or just crash course a wk.. thats basic.. but you will be qualified.. degree in sports science is far deeper in knowledge. try wabba, or premier training these 2 are better.... ymca is ok.. future fit ok.What is the best way to qualify as a fitness instructor?

Go to College and get a certificate in 3 months! What is the best way to qualify as a fitness instructor?I'm a civilian fitness speciallist for the U.S. Air Force in Germany. I understand your problem with PTL's There are some good ones, but many are given that tasking just because they do well on the PT test themselves. Leaders in fitness, especially in the armed forces, should be passionate about what they do. Unfortunately this isn't necessarily the case. I am a certified PTL. The PTL course, itself, isn't extremely informative. As a member of the Fitness Staff, the air force sent me to a fitness speciallists course, which was good. The advanced fitness training course that the air force uses is the curriculum laid down by the Coopers institute. In addition, some other reputable certifying bodies are A.C.E. and A.F.A.A.

I would visit your base's fitness center and talk with the staff. Many of them are trained as I am, and can answer specific questions and concerns you may have with your workout and goals. I counsel people on a daily basis. It's my favorite part of the job.

For certification, here are some places to start:
